The Sun Rises on 529 Plans
On July 28, 2006 the U.S. House of
Representatives passed the Pension
Protection Act of 2006 (H.R. 4). The bill
contains a provision eliminating the 2010
‘sunset’ of the federal tax exclusion for
qualified distributions from a 529 plan.
HR 4 is expected to be approved by the
U.S. Senate and, therefore, should be
enacted shortly.
